What We Do

Levenseat Ltd is a successful waste management business with both landfill and recycling operations. We have been engaged in waste management operations since 1986 and currently handle approximately 200,000 tonnes per year of a range of wastes including household, commercial, industrial, inert and organic wastes. The company currently operates from 3 sites: Muldron Landfill (Restoration Phase), Torphin Quarry Restoration (a landfill for inert material only) and Levenseat Waste Management Site which comprises a fully engineered 2m cu.m. landfill (non-hazardous wastes) and a 5 ha materials recycling facility.

At Levenseat we are committed to on-going enhancement of our facilities and improvement of the service we provide to both private sector customers and local authorities. We pride ourselves on our innovative and environmentally sympathetic approach to waste management.

The company is a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management, the Scottish Environmental Services Association and the Composting Association.

The company is a founder member of the Levenseat Trust, a registered charity and environmental body established for the purpose supporting of environmental projects in the Levenseat area.

Although the majority of the waste handled by Levenseat is land-filled, since 1998 the company has invested heavily in developing its recycling capability, initially in the composting and aggregate sectors. The general strategy of the business is to move towards producing higher value products from materials which are traditionally more difficult to treat due to either regulatory requirements or material characteristics and properties.  This suits Levenseat’s secluded but accessible location in Central Scotland and combines well with existing infrastructure on the site.
